A 20-ton hydraulic excavator, the workhorse of mid-size groundworks. Three units in the yard, two of them 2021 builds. Service every 250 engine hours. Comes with a 1.2 m³ general-purpose bucket as standard; thumb, ripper, breaker, and grading buckets are on the attachments list, hireable by the day.
The CAT 320 sits at the size where you can still get it onto most urban sites without a low-loader permit. Tracked, not wheeled — it travels by trailer, but works on track and won't damage paved surfaces with the right pad set. Engine is the Cat C4.4 ACERT, 122 kW, Tier 4 Final emissions, and quiet enough for noise-restricted boroughs.
Daily hire includes the machine, the bucket, hydraulic hose set, full tank of diesel, a track-pad inspection at handover, and insurance up to $1.5M operator liability. Fuel beyond the first tank is on you, return-with-empty is fine. Operator service is $35/hr extra, ticketed and uniformed, with a four-hour minimum on the first day.
If the machine breaks down on site, ring ext. 9 on the desk line — average response in our service area is 47 minutes, and if we can't fix it in two hours we swap the unit free of charge. The CAT 320 has the lowest mean-time-between-failures of any class in our yard, but every machine breaks eventually.
Each attachment comes with the quick-coupler, hydraulic lines, and a fitting service at our yard or yours. Add them to the hire at booking, or ring the desk and we will send one out on the morning run.
